You see kids. Consoles used to be reliable...

As some of you may know I've recently had my old Xbox 360 replaced with a new/better one due to cooling problems (it melted its motherboard!). This is not the first time this had happened about 2 to 3 years ago my same old xbox had the same problem but it was expected because it was quite a problem back then. It was called the red ring of death and it happens due to a motherboard problem. So i had it sent away and fixed and everything was fine and dandy I even got 2 more years of warranty! 3 years later it broke. My old Xbox was one of the first I got it on the day the console launched and over the past couple of years i added on a hard drive, wireless connection, new faceplate and of course LIVE. I became very close to it due to its easy and fun take on online playing and how i could talk to my friends whilst playing. But over the past couple of months it began to become loader, slower and even effected my connection to LIVE. Until eventually i popped in Modern Warfare 2 and started to really get into it until it showed the dreaded red ring and the TV crackled and everything went tits up. Now you're probably wondering WOW that's quite a story you've got there Duncan but what's the point? Simply put my Xbox 360 was released in November 2005 and lasted me for 4 years occasional play. MY PLAYSTATION 2 LASTED ME FOR 9 YEARS AND TODAY STILL WORKS.

Now this has me pondering the thought that manufacturers are focusing more on Quantity than Quality and this has me taking a fit at not only the Gaming Front but also Microsoft and the rest of the gizmo world. Apple is guilty for Quantity over Quality too. My sister had an IPhone which had out of nowhere ceased to work. This annoyed me due to the fact i was getting that phone THE WEEK AFTER IT HAD BROKEN. So you could imagine my disappointment as i texed my mates with my 10 pound Sony Ericsson who i had named Eric due to my weirdness (GO ME!) The next day however i got a replacement and i was happy!.... Right up until the off button had jammed and left my replacement a vegetable. They then said that they lost my broken one and instead gave me a Free 3G. This worried me very much on how they just gave me a new phone like there was no big deal about it which further supports my Quality VERSUS Quantity crap.

Whew... I'm going to take a breather now. Hopefully you take my points into perspective and support my conclusion that well Things aren't as reliable as they used to be.

Now if you excuse me I'm of to play on my new Xbox. :D
